Unal Akyuz, PhD

Mr. Ünal Akyüz started up his career after completing his university degree in Turkish Language and Literature Department of Marmara University in the year 1997. In parallel with working as a Turkish teacher in Istanbul for a period of 3 years, he completed his graduate degree in Modern Turkish Literature Department of Istanbul University.

In the year 2000, he flied to the USA for language training. He became and worked as a “Research Assistant” at the Educational Leadership Department of USA Nevada State University between the years 2002-2004 and completed his graduate degree in this Department. After following up his doctorate degree courses on the same field, he returned to Turkey.

Between the years 2005 and 2006, he worked within the PCC as Monitoring and Evaluation Expert, Branch Head of Project Preparation Unit, and was appointed as the first Director of the Capacity Building Support for the Ministry of National Education Project. During his career in the MONE; he was assigned as the negotiator on behalf of the Ministry for Operational Programs negotiations held at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

Mr. Akyüz, formerly worked as an “advisor” in the National Assembly between the years 2007- and 2010, has participated actively in the EU and UNDP projects.

He managed many European Union, the World Bank and European Investment Bank financed projects.

He participated in assessment of educational systems in the USA, Japan, South Korea, Portugal, Italy, Spain, France, and Belgium and in Switzerland, restructuring process of the Central Organization of the Ministry of National Education, and visits under Fatih Project. With the restructuring of our Ministry, he has been assigned as the Head of Projects Coordination Group which is responsible for the coordination of European Union, the World Bank and other international institutions funded projects as of November 18, 2011.

Mr. Ünal Akyüz is got Ph.D degree in Educational Governance and Policy field at the Faculty of Education in Ankara University, Turkey.
